aMillionJobsToDo... is loving the new jewellery collection from new client Adornment World Wide!
I have been lucky enough to have a sneaky advanced peek, whilst we have been developing their new home page, but dont worry their new website will be coming soon!
On a different note I would just like to thank you all again, for supporting the concept! It wouldn't be what it is today without all your kind feedback, donations and continued tasks!! :)
It seems that some people think that just because you put something out on the internet that it is free for anyone to copy! I suppose I should be flattered that someone wants to completely copy my idea, all the best ideas have their imposters!! But to rip off my website content entirely is taking it a little too far!!
Mobile Valeting Business For Sale - Monday 19th July
Previous client mukless mobile valeters are selling their business due to working elsewhere... Sale will include business website & email account, business flyers, their sim card & phone number, 500 business cards, job sheets and invoices, all artwork etc for re-prints.
No stock or van but good business idea if you have the time to market it by getting the flyers out & want to make some easy money? Open to offers??
Nice article in Woman magazine today, I do wish people could look past the idea of me doing anything for a pound though. I have never actually completed a £1 task so far and fees are always relevant to the time taken on any task suggested!
aMillionJobsToDo... is looking for budding Oxfordshire photographers for a competition to win a double page spread and your name credited in a brand new glossy magazine.
Very open brief as long as the picture shows Oxford in some way it will be considered. The magazine is pitched at parents of children aged 0-11 if that gives you any inspiration!
I am looking for someone in the Worcester Park area of Surrey to visit / play with / short walk, a young puppy once a day for 30-60 mins around lunch time, on an ongoing basis.
I am really looking forward to helping my amazing sister Viky, to launch her own new business idea, brandentity.
She has been a great help developing and marketing aMillionJobsToDo... with me over the last year and has finally decided to start her own design and marketing agency, as a result. No need to fear though, she has guaranteed that she will continue to assist with all associated aMillionJobsToDo tasks and we look forward to an exciting new business partnership!
Talking of design, aMillionJobsToDo has also just secured another new website task for R&G Trading, eBay Trading Assistants based down in Cornwall :)
You may have noticed a few changes to the website this week. I've decided to give Google Adsense a whirl, as anything that can make a bit of extra money towards my goal, can only be a good thing!
Viky has done a fab job (as always) and I really like the new simplified layout. I look forward to any comments that I may recieve as a result and hope that the new ads and search bar might make visiting the site more useful for you all.
Some interesting task requests also recieved this week... One to sort out a few years worth of admin and paperwork and another to turn 100 audio tapes into digital MP3's. I really love the variation of aMillionJobsToDo... and look forward to completing these tasks. Thank you! :)
Can't think of a task but still want to offer your support... You can now contribute to the concept by buying me a brick...
I am aware that raising the money for a million pound house could take some time! So if you wish to lend a hand, but can' think of a task please contribute towards my goal and simply buy me a brick or two.
All contributions can be redeemed for a suitable task at a later date if desired!
I am really not having a very productive day and seem to have hit a web design, creative block!! I just keep struggling with having a very open brief... sometimes having complete design freedom is just too much!! :(
To top it all off the house has been withdrawn from the market - arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!! I'm sure another one will come along. And with the way the housing market is going I'll probably get something better but it just feels so disheartening... it's like my motivation has been wipped away from under my feet!
Oh well the dream lives on and maybe they are saving it just for me ;)
Just to let you know aMillionJobsToDo... will be offering personalising services for all your England shirts, clothing and merchandise this world cup. I can add names numbers, dates of matches, even historic goals... you name it!
Email me at info@amillionjobstodo.com if you would like any more information or you would like me to get your items personalised ready for the first England match! xx
Sadly, despite being the most popular business idea in the region throughout the entire competition, Barclays have decided not to select aMillionJobsToDo... to go through to the final three, for the next round. I am very proud to have made it to the top ten though and to have held the top spot for my region for so long, over the thousands of businesses and business ideas that entered!
A MASSIVE thank you to anyone who has supported aMillionJobsToDo... throughout the competition! I really do appreciate the fact that so many of you took the time to vote and that many of you left such encouraging comments.
As I didn't make it to the final three however, please could you all send in a task... just to make me feel better hehehe! :)
Check out the latest textiles task request that I just completed! Another job well done especially in terms of the client feedback...
"Thank you so much for making this for me, its so great! I really hope this has helped you towards your goal as well, as much as it has made me happy!! THANK YOU" :)
.............
Another very happy customer but, a million jobs to continue...
aMillionJobsToDo... has been selected as one of the final ten businesses in our region in the Barclays competition! The judging panel meet tomorrow to decide on the final three of each region, and to determine who will get to battle it out for the 50k!!
Fingers crossed I make it through!! :) Am very nervous and Saturday will be tense! I really do hope to make it through to the next round, the exposure would be amazing for the concept and the prize money could help me move the business forward in so many different ways!
aMillionJobsToDo... is now supporting Hope Street Park who are on a mission to get their England 2010 World Cup Song "We are England" into the charts with a budget of only £200 and without a record label.
What a lovely suprise, a client came over to collect a wedding dress I had been working on last night and presented me with some beautiful flowers and a bottle of wine!
Thank you so much, I hope the wedding is amazing and its glorious to see how supportive and kind some of my clients can be! xx
I've also just been notified that an interview I completed about aMillionJobsToDo... has been featured on the great website Mum's The Blog!
Lots of new facebook fans over the last few weeks as a result of the crazy media attention that the concept has had. I am also being interviewed by 'Pick Me Up' magazine today and will let you all know when it will be printed!
Today is also the last working day for people to vote on the Barclays Competition. I know many of you have already voted but please can you ask friends, family, work colleagues and strangers in the street to vote today! Please click here now or on the big red splat at the top of the page.
New External Service Providers - Thursday 13th May
I am proud to announce that some new external service providers have chosen to advertise with aMillionJobsToDo... over the last few weeks.
New advertisers include Any Language Design Consultancy, First Choice Fancy Dress solutions, The Glow mobile holistic therapy in the Birmingham area, website consultancy, SEO and hosting services from Jabbajam and designer wedding dresses from Platinum Wedding Collection in Reading.
If you would like to get involved and advertise your own services on the site please email me at info@aMillionJobsToDo.com.
Today BBC 2's Working Lunch programme covered the aMillionJobsToDo... concept in their Slice of Life feature. I was very nervous about filming but actually think I came across quite well. I've had lots of new contacts and task requests as a result and just hope that this amazing journey will continue!!
What a manic few weeks... I can't believe how crazy everything has been since the Global media coverage that I have received. The concept has exploded and I am still busy replying to all the emails that I have had from clients and contacts offering support, services and tasks.
I have already completed tasks for people in New Zealand and China and have had press coverage across the world including a radio interview in Spain. I have had TV interest from Ireland, articles have been published in New York and China and my web statistics show over 22,000 web hits have come from International countries from Russia to Venezuela!
Some of the tasks that have been requested since the coverage include; building a blog, website design, fancy dress costumes, marketing assistance, cleaning, advertising, business support, proof reading, wedding catering, picachu hoodies, personalised clothing, personalised canvases, cupcakes and cupcake training, textiles tasks and alterations, write a love letter, re-home 2 dogs, personalised wristbands, furniture removal, personal shopping and video creation... it just keeps going!!! :)
I also received an email on 27th April simply saying..."Clean my shoes for £100,000. I'm not even lying" I responded... "If you would still like me to clean your shoes for the suggested fee, please let me know and I will raise you a PayPal invoice and provide you with an address to post the shoes to. Look forward to completing this task for you."... Funnily enough I have still had no response?!?
Anyway thank you to everyone that has been in touch. I am very excited by the public response and I am really looking forward to working with so many different people, from all walks of life.
Firstly I apologise for yet again neglecting this blog and website. Everything has gone a bit crazy over the last few weeks!!
Since entering the Barclays Take One Small Step competition I have received so much support, so thank you to everyone who has voted. I have also noticed there's been a few negative comments added to the entry but I am trying to take it on the chin and am a firm believer that you can't please everyone, all of the time.
As a result though I have been inundated with new task requests covering everything from additional personlised textile items to marketing assistance and web projects and this week I have even been asked to produce a human sized, purple, squid mascot costume!
Today the Daily Mail published an article about the business model on their website which has created quite a stir. The national media coverage has certainly helped to boost the idea and I've already had over 4200 unique web hits just from the article alone. I actually can't believe how manic the day has been and I may even end up on Lorraine Kelly's sofa on GMTV next week!
I've had tons of emails offering support and requesting tasks and I can't wait to work my way through them all replying and getting the new jobs booked in. The actual article should be published in tomorrows Daily Mail too so I hope the amazing support I have received will continue!
All in all very exciting times for aMillionJobsToDo and who knows what task could land in my inbox next - one task for one million would be nice, I can but dream!! :)

So much has been going on this weekend... I have been frantically busy, hand-making 40 of the 65 ordered personalised hoodies for Keilee's dance academy. I've run out of vinyl so have had to stop while I await the re-order...
I have also made a start on a personalised banner and some personalised wrist bands that have been ordered for a different task, that needs to be completed by Friday.
The Peter Andre's kiddies T-shirts are also nearly finished and the entry for the business competition is still being moderated, hopefully it will be live soon!
£50,000 to expand the concept!!!!! - Thursday 8th April
aMillionJobsToDo... Is entering a business competition to win £50k to help expand the concept!
I have had to make a 2 minute video to help bring the concept to life, so please watch it here now, hope you like it...
Anyway the application has just been submitted for approval but I am tad scared now!! I will post a link asking for supporting votes when it goes live, so please check back soon!
I just hope to make it to the shortlisted regional's and then who knows... £50k for advertising and PR... what a difference that could make :)
Egg citing times for aMillionJobsToDo... - Friday 2nd April
So much for an easter holiday, shall be far too busy for eggs!
Have just received another interesting new task request, this time for weekly marketing assistance.
aMillionJobsToDo... is also designing t-shirts for Peter Andre's children!!
In addition to all this on-going madness, I am still looking for anyone involved in a social or sports group; dance, gym, martial arts etc - who would like branded/personalised products, hoodies, t-shirts, jogging bottoms, kit bags etc for their members. The organisers will get 10% of all orders taken plus free logo design worth up to £100 if required. Contact me now, for more information.
Another new task request again today for logo design and some business cards... Please keep your tasks coming in, email: info@aMillionJobsToDo.com.
Thank you as well, to everyone who has been helping to push the facebook fan page recently - fans have been growing fairly rapidly!! Please also keep passing on the concept to anyone you know, as the more people that are aware of the idea the better!!!
A fellow Mum Preneur kindly recommended aMillionJobsToDo... on a forum site dedicated to Mums in business this week. I've checked out the site and it's a great resource for all sorts of services, with a free business index and lots of networking opportunities.
I have now set up my profile and the website administrators have kindly agreed to feature me on the site, within their 'members spotlight' section to help give me some added exposure!
Thanks again to Fiona Moffatt for the initial referral.
The personalised vinyl hoodies for Keilee Sharkey's school of dance are selling like hot cakes at the mo!!
I have over 50 hoodies ordered now and so have decided to start a facebook campaign looking for anyone else who may need personalised hoodies for their own social groups and activities!
I will be offering 10% of the profits to group organisers and free logo design worth up to £100!
Today I received a lovely email from a national newspaper editor who had stumbled across my story from one of my PR's on the internet. She has requested more information on how the concept is progressing and hopes to feature me in their publication soon!
I am very excited... with readership circulation of over 2 million people what better way to promote the idea. Its nice to see all the hard marketing and PR work finally paying off!!
Invitations, Invitations, Invitations - Tuesday 16th March
I have has spent the last few evenings perfecting some beautiful handmade wedding invitations that I have been doing for a lovely couple who requested this task back in January... It kind of makes me wish I was getting married again!
I have also had some more invitation requests over the weekend, including some for a hen party (and not even for the bride I am making the wedding invitations for!) I still love how varied the task requests can be though, so please keep challenging me and keeping me on my toes!! :)
I am also looking forward to a rare weekend off this weekend so I best work hard this week to try and finish off some of these ongoing tasks.
When I launched aMillionJobsToDo... back last summer, one of my first task requests was for some vinyl printed T-shirts for a local dance academy known as Keilee's School of Dance. The T-shirts were sold in the dance classes and became quite popular with the students.
Since then aMillionJobsToDo... has developed a range of personalised clothing items for Keilee's classes including T-shirts, vests, leotards, TuTus and now more recently some vinyl printed hoodies.
The hoodies have only been on sale in 2 dance classes so far and have already made over £300. A great little partnership has developed and we hope to start a new range of tracksuit bottoms with the name on the bum in the next few weeks.
I am also looking to expand this type of work with other dance academies or any other social/sports groups that may be interested in their own personalised or branded clothing range. If you or someone you know may be interested in seeing a sample or staring your own range then please contact me.
I have been really busy again today with new job requests coming in all the time. Thank you to everyone who has passed the concept on, it really does make a massive difference.
A new interesting task received recently, has been for me to build up a new 'sales' relationship with a business resources company... I am hoping it might be mutually beneficial... but we shall see what happens!
I have also just had a good chat with 'Variety Productions' (a media company I developed a great relationship with last year) who would like aMillionJobsToDo... to do their new and fresh company website.
Also another busy few days emailing press releases, updating the blog and sorting out feedback!
The Good The Bad & The Ugly - Thursday 25th February
Today I have been reading back through some of the comments made on various forums on the internet. It's great to see so many people have taken an interest in my idea and progress and its been very motivating reading the positive and supportive comments that have been posted - so thank you all!
I must admit though it hurts a little to read a few of the negative views and comments that have also been made... I have been compared to the million dollar homepage saying I am copying, that I do not have a unique idea, that I will never make my target and that I am no more than a PR stunt or get rich quick scheme. I would like to add to those comments that this is NOT going to make me rich quickly, I am NOT copying anyone, I am physically completing tasks not just selling advertising space for money so it is going to take me a long time to reach my goal, my 26 year old sister is helping me with my marketing and I have done NO paid advertising since I launched... so it's certainly no PR stunt!
I have had to work extremely hard to get to where I am now. I have completed nearly 4000 tasks in total, NON of which have been for a mere pound, so I believe the concept has been very successful as it stands today. Some people are very focused on how little or how much I have earnt but I decided to remove my profit from the site back in December due to aggressive emails from people asking for money.
Some have said that I would be better off working at MacDonald's but I already have a career as a textiles teacher and this is just my way of developing as an individual and trying something new alongside. I am happy with my progress so far, I have a substantial sum sat in the bank and believe that one day I will make my million. Ultimately though what harm is there in anyone trying to launch their own business regardless of how much they stand to make from it.
I thank again anyone who has offered their support and hope that the concept continues to offer as many customers as possible a helping hand with their tasks for a fee that they choose to pay!
Today I completed a novelty 'Finding Nemo - Squirt' cake. I still amaze myself with these cake results and hope you will like the design too! (This Squirt cake or any other of my cake designs are available by request and I am also happy to provide instructions for you to attempt the designs yourself, for any suggested fee!)
Following the DMU article a new external services provider has contacted me saying she found my story very interesting and also studied at DMU in Leicester.
She is a family law solicitor and is now able to offer her advice and assistance with any family law issues, through aMillionJobsToDo... this relates to divorce/children/domestic violence and anti social behavior.
I welcome her onboard, am glad that I have been able to help her advertise and hope that this service will be very beneficial to anyone looking for quality legal advice... For more information please contact Geraldine Watson at gwatson7@sky.com
I recently had a facebook advertising voucher which proved to be fairly useful.
I set up a little advert to be shown to anyone on facebook within certain requirements and it sent over 50 or so visitors a day whilst it was running.
Not bad for a free voucher but not something I think I'd consider paying for.
I still like that the concept is completely viral with no paid for advertising and that it keeps ticking over nicely on the marketing that has already been done. I am planning to have a big marketing push again in April to see if I can generate some new web links though so anyone interested in a link or service exchange, please contact me.
This week I had some new press coverage with another article published about a million jobs and me!
The article was written by the gateway Magazine which is the alumni publication at my old university – De Montfort and was circulated to nearly 90k people globally!
I was really happy with how it turned out (though still not a fan of seeing pictures of myself in print!) and have since received some lovely emails from people who also attend/ed DMU and like what I am trying to do!
I even had a phone call from my dad who lives down in Cornwall to say ‘Do you know you are in the gateway magazine?!’ apparently my stepmother also got her degree there so they had stumbled across me in her copy!
Anyway I hope this will generate some new interest and really look forward to any new task requests that I may get as a result.
I really enjoyed planning and hand making many aspects of my own wedding a few years ago. So I was delighted to be asked to design and make a range of wedding invitations for possibly the most in love couple I have ever met!
Thanks guys, I really hope you like them and I wish you both all the happiness in the world for your future together. xxx
Today I have been busy preparing a continuation proposal for the janitorial company I recently did a task for. They are now interested in aMillionJobsToDo... for all their corporate branding!
Possible new tasks will include: Logo design, business card design, website development, branded letterhead, branded compliment slips, flyer/leaflet design, corporate branding guide, various sized advert templates, email shot template/s, social media account set-up, corporate profile and a case study!
I love projects like these as they certainly keep me busy and I enjoy helping to develop an entire corporate identity and brand for someone else. It still amazes me how varied the tasks requests that I get in can be, one minute I can be sewing or T-shirt printing and the next designing a website... my skills have certainly grown and sometimes I feel that I could turn my hand to just about anything!
Anyway hope I get the request, a million jobs to do...
Some more great progress on this one... Leaflet, poster, bus card, letterhead and comp slip designs all finished for Blue Marble Life Coaching, I just hope they like the new and modern 'confidence' concept based on the brief!
This has been an ongoing task from 2009 for a new business start up who required marketing and branding assistance. I think the concept works well now and we could possibly be nearly finished...
I was contacted last week by a janitorial company based in New York who were trying to create a great looking sales packet for their business. They had a packet that they were currently using that could be easily tweaked so I accepted the project and completely redesigned their file.
They were very pleased with the results and I was grateful for such a lovely task with great communication. A real pleasure.
Advertising & PR Activity - Wednesday 13th January
I have been busy working behind the scenes again updating this neglected blog, the website and all my social media profiles... a full time job in itself.
I got a free facebook advertising voucher in an email today so I have just been setting up a small advertising campaign that will be beginning on the 25th Jan too.
It will be interesting to see if it makes a difference, as as yet aMillionJobsToDo... has still not paid for any advertising at all!
It's been amazing that the concept has gained such great press exposure and I still feel privileged to have a unique idea that people have even contemplated taking an interest in my progress!
I have also been chatting to a new PR company about the possibility of developing a relationship but to be honest I can't see that they can offer much more than what I am already doing... Viky has just written us a new press release which I am busy distributing so I will see how things progress through early 2010 before making a decision.
All in all the new PR, the website updates and the new tasks coming in, all equal new motivation!!
Right... after a nice break it's now time to do a big marketing push again!! Hope you all had a great xmas and new yr and don't forget aMillionJobsToDo... if you need a hand with any task in 2010!!
I am actually glad to be back and really hope that 2010 is going to be a very busy year. I still find it hard to believe that I only launched aMillionJobsToDo... back in the summer, it just seems like such a long time ago now but I have completed so many varied and amazing tasks that no wonder I feel like the time has flown! I am very appreciative of all your support over the last few months and hope that I can be of assistance to as many people again and hopefully many more throughout 2010.
Anyway Happy New Year to you all and please remember to get your task requests in early this year.
